A man accused of raping, sodomizing and kidnapping a woman in Athens last year is wanted after failing to appear for a court hearing in June.

Alex Michael Mosby, 28, of Athens, missed his June 14 court appearance, and Clarke County sheriff’s Capt. Hayden Hodges told AJC.com there is an active warrant for his arrest.

In April 2018, Mosby was arrested after the victim called 911 to report the alleged sexual assault while he was still in her apartment off Mitchell Bridge Road, according to police incident reports obtained by the Athens Banner-Herald. She had locked herself in a bathroom until authorities arrived.

Mosby was indicted later that month on charges of rape, kidnapping and two counts of aggravated sodomy with force, court records show.

After his case ended with a hung jury, Mosby was released on his own recognizance in December with a $5,000 bond, District Attorney Ken Mauldin confirmed. His office is in the process of retrying the case.

AJC.com has reached out to the county’s magistrate court for more information about his bond.

Anyone with information about Mosby is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 706-613-3250.
