An Athens man was sentenced to prison for the fourth time, and it’ll be his last.
Charlie William Jordan, 39, was convicted of sexually assaulting a woman he held captive for nearly 72 hours, and he received a life sentence without the possibility of parole, the Athens Banner-Herald reported.
In addition to sexually assaulting the 30-year-old victim himself, Jordan took the victim to locations where she was sexually abused by other men in August 2018, court records show.
He was arrested the next month on several charges, including rape, aggravated assault, aggravated sexual battery, aggravated sodomy, pandering by compulsion and four counts of sex trafficking, records show.
Two other women testified in court that Jordan abused them as well, but they never reported the crimes “for fear of not being believed and of retribution,” according to the Banner-Herald. He’s allegedly been trafficking women in the Athens area since 2013.
The rape charge was declared a mistrial due to the jury being hung with an 11-1 vote to convict, the newspaper reported. He was found not guilty of the aggravated sexual battery charge, but he was convicted of all other charges, records show.
Jordan has previously served three stints in prison since 2000, according to Georgia Department of Corrections records. He was sentenced for charges of distributing cocaine, terroristic threats, possession of methamphetamine and possession of hydrocodone in Greene and Clarke counties.
He returned to prison Thursday, department records show.
