An alleged armed robbery escalated to gunfire in a gated Cobb County neighborhood, authorities said.
The resident told police that three women forced their way into his apartment, and one of them fired a gunshot through his door while he and his 6-year-old son were standing only feet away, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Jessica Nicole Barrett and Lakeisha Renee Frazier were arrested in connection with the incident, which took place at the Westminster Square apartment complex off Windy Hill Road near Cobb Parkway, Channel 2 reported. The third woman remains on the loose.
The three suspects allegedly knocked on the door last Tuesday, and when the man opened it, the trio tried to force their way in and demanded DVDs, investigators said. The father pulled out his gun, and as the women backed away, Barrett allegedly “fired one round,” according to an arrest warrant obtained by the news station.
The victim declined to comment to Channel 2.
Barrett was arrested Wednesday and Frazier was arrested Thursday, Cobb County Jail records show. They both face charges of first-degree burglary, armed robbery, aggravated assault and third-degree child cruelty. They remain in jail without bond.
No description of the third suspect has been provided, but anyone with information about her is asked to contact Cobb police at 770-499-3900.
