An arrest has been made in connection with a string of recent burglaries at businesses and homes in southwest Atlanta.

Police said they charged Tyrone Brown, 46, with 15 burglary-related offenses after the latest incident Wednesday.

Brown tried to break into a home in the 2700 block of Third Avenue but fled after encountering the home’s occupant, Atlanta police spokesman Officer Jarius Daughtery said Thursday in a statement. The person followed the suspect, who allegedly threw a brick at the victim’s car and ran away.

Police later tracked Brown down at a corner store in the 2700 block of Metropolitan Parkway, about a block from a Dollar General he had allegedly burglarized twice in the previous two weeks.

Brown was charged with four counts of burglary, four counts of criminal damage to property, four counts of theft, two counts of criminal trespassing and one count of criminal attempt to commit burglary. He has previously been convicted of at least six burglary-related crimes, Daugherty said.

Brown is being held without bond, and a court date has been set for July 3.
