Atlanta police have identified the man they say is responsible for a fatal shooting near Grady hospital.
When police went to serve 58-year-old Melvin Moss with an arrest warrant, they found out he was already in jail on unrelated charges, according to a news release Tuesday night from the Atlanta Police Department.
Moss is accused in a March 20 shooting on Armstrong Street, around the corner from Grady Memorial Hospital. Police say Moss gunned down 35-year-old Antonio Lamar Diggs just before 2:30 p.m. By the time police arrived at the scene, Diggs already had been taken to the hospital for treatment. Authorities were soon informed that he died from his wounds.
Moss is currently being held at the Atlanta Pre-trial Detention Center on traffic charges and will be transferred to Fulton County Jail upon his release.
