A man caught and beaten by neighbors in what appears to be retaliation for the July killing of an Atlanta mother of three was arrested Wednesday.
Ardemetrius Neason was charged with murder in the July 16 shooting death of 30-year-old Teresa Carter. Carter was found shot multiple times and dead on the sidewalk of her southwest Atlanta neighborhood.
Carter’s family told media the daytime shooting followed a dispute with Neason, and onlookers in her neighborhood attacked him, roughing Neason up and holding him until police arrived.
No one would make a statement to investigators at the time to implicate Neason or lead police to view him as anything more than a person of interest, however.
So Neason, who had to be taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for his injuries, was released by police after he was treated.
It is unclear what evidence investigators were able to gather to bring charges against him.
He was taken to the Fulton County jail, police said, but booking and bond information are not yet available.
