Police have arrested a man accused of killing a man in an apparent shootout in Atlanta in June, authorities said.
Tyler Jarel Thomas was located in Villa Rica by members of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and arrested on Monday, Atlanta police spokesman Officer John Chafee said.
Thomas, 25, of Carrollton was charged with murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, attempted murder and attempted armed robbery in connection with the June 22 death of 35-year-old Ashley Brown of Columbia, S.C., authorities said.
Authorities were called to a home in the 3200 block of Kingston Road in northwest Atlanta because an SUV crashed into the home, according to police records.
No one inside the home was hurt, but investigators found Brown behind the wheel of the SUV dead from multiple gunshot wounds, police said.
Investigators determined that Brown had exchanged gunfire with someone before driving two blocks and hitting the home, authorities said.
Earlier this month, detectives linked Thomas to the shooting and obtained a warrant for his arrest, authorities said.
Thomas is being held in the Fulton County Jail without bond.
