A 28-year-old man has been charged in connection with a crash that killed a Coweta County couple on their way to a movie, officials said.

Andrew John Wiemann of Acworth is jailed without bond, Coweta County jail records show. Charges include DUI and two counts of vehicular homicide.

The July crash on Ga. 54 and Fischer Crossing Boulevard in Sharpsburg killed Thomas Scott Mayo, 57, and Pamela Mayo, 58, the Georgia State Patrol said at the time.

The couple were headed to NCG Cinemas for a date night, Channel 2 Action News reported. They were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the GSP.

A black Infiniti driven by Wiemann went through a red light and slammed into the Mayos’ silver Ford Escape, according to the GSP.

Wiemann also is charged with reckless driving and running a red light, jail records show.
