Another person arrested on drug charge after Barrow teen’s death

Another drug arrest has been made in connection with the death of a Winder teen last week.

Terry Littleton, 25, of Flowery Branch, was arrested and charged Thursday with criminal attempt to distribute a controlled substance.

Emily Smith, a sixth-grade math teacher at Winder Barrow Middle School, was arrested last week on accusations that she sold Xanax and methadone, a synthetic opiate, to the 18-year-old who died, Barrow County Sheriff’s officials said.

Lt. Matt Guthas said Littleton was involved in the run-up to the teen’s death.

“The charges stemmed from an investigation of the activities of the 18-year-old female in the days leading up to her death,” Guthas said. “Littleton and Smith assisted the victim, via cell phone, with the victim’s quest to obtain a controlled substance prior to her death.”

Authorities continue to investigate.
