Charges against an Alpharetta man have been upgraded from aggravated battery to felony murder after his alleged shooting victim died of her injuries.

Alamin Nanji, 26, was charged with felony murder Thursday after Sanaa Merani,25, died in the hospital from a gunshot wound to the head she allegedly suffered Tuesday during a domestic dispute with Nanji.

Alpharetta police provided these details: On Tuesday around 5:40 a.m. police received an 911 call from a neighbor who said he heard arguing coming from an adjacent apartment on Jefferson Way. Alpharetta police responded to the apartment and discovered the critically injured woman. The couple lived in the apartment together. Nanji was questioned, then taken into custody and initially charged with aggravated battery. He is being held in the Fulton County jail without bond.
