A man wanted in another county was captured Friday night after an armed carjacking at an Alpharetta church and a chase that ended at a MARTA station, police said.
About 8:21 p.m., the person, identified as 31-year-old Jason Taratoot, stole a green Kia Soul from someone at St. James United Methodist Church, according to a Facebook post by Alpharetta police. The church is in the 3000 block of Webb Bridge Road.
An officer saw the car going south on Ga. 400, and a chase began after the suspect refused to stop, according to police.
The pursuit ended in the North Springs MARTA station parking deck in Sandy Springs when officers performed a PIT maneuver, a tactic that essentially involves bumping a vehicle in an attempt to stop it, according to the post.
Taratoot tried to run but was caught by a police dog.
The suspect is wanted on charges out of Cherokee County, police said.
Taratoot is charged with reckless driving, fleeing/attempting to elude officers, two counts of possessing controlled substances, possessing drug-related objects, possessing a stolen firearm and tampering with evidence, according to Fulton County jail records.
