Two people have been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $250,000 worth of prescription pills from a Rockdale pharmacy, the GBI said Thursday.
More than 6,000 pills, including morphine, oxymorphone, ritalin, and opana, were seized Friday during a search of a Grayson home, according to Sherry Lang, GBI spokeswoman. An investigation following a January armed robbery of the Omnicare Pharmacy in Conyers led to a search warrant being executed at the home, Lang said.
Three handguns were seized during the search, along with the pills believed to be those stolen in January, the GBI said. Two men living at the Hogan Ridge Drive home were arrested.
Norris Bernard-Marquis Turner, 26, was arrested during a traffic stop on Ronald Reagan Parkway in Gwinnett County. He has been charged with three counts of controlled substances with intent to distribute and is being held in the Gwinnett County jail without bond, booking records show.
Donovan Xavier Ferguson, 25, was arrested as the search warrant was being executed, the GBI said. Ferguson has been charged with armed robbery and is being held in the Rockdale County jail.
Additional charges are possible, Lang said.
