Police have charged a second suspect in the murder of a Roswell businessman who was gunned down in front of his son Saturday afternoon.
Anthony Boyd, 29, was charged with murder and criminal attempt to commit armed robbery in the shooting death of 48-year-old Eddy Leonardo, Roswell police spokesman Lt. Noah Caplan said.

Police said Leonardo was ambushed on the way into his check cashing business located inside the Super Mercado Jalisco, a popular Hispanic grocery chain located on Alpharetta Street.

The first suspect, 29-year-old James English, was arrested Monday after surveillance footage from the supermarket captured his vehicle leaving the parking lot after Leonardo’s death, authorities said.
Police declined to say how they linked Boyd to the case.
Robbery was determined to be a motive after investigators found $50,000 on Leonardo after he was killed. It’s unclear if the suspects actually made off with any money, however.
“It was Saturday — the first of the month — and people were cashing checks, so he had a lot of cash on him,” Roswell police spokesman Officer Sean Thompson said. “These guys knew that somehow and followed him.”
Leonardo’s longtime friend, Juan James, said he was leaving the parking lot of the grocery store shortly before 1 p.m. when he heard two gunshots.

Additional arrests are expected in the case, Caplan said. In the meantime, Boyd and English remain held without bond at the Fulton County Jail, records show. Boyd’s booking photo was not available Friday.
