A 10th prison inmate has died from the coronavirus, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.

The latest death was a 61-year-old, whose name was not released, who was housed at Baldwin State Prison in Milledgeville, the DOC said. The inmate had underlying medical conditions and had been in an Augusta hospital. The inmate died Tuesday afternoon, the DOC said.

The latest death was the first due to COVID-19 at Baldwin State Prison. Other inmates at Autry, Coastal, Georgia Diagnostic and Classification, Johnson and Lee state prisons have died from the virus. A staff member at Calhoun State Prison also died, according to the DOC.

Just over 300 state inmates and 100 employees have tested positive for the coronavirus. Autry State Prison in Pelham has reported the most cases, with 65, according to the DOC.
