Clayton County police are investigating the robbery of an armored car guard Monday at a Morrow convenience store.

The Loomis guard was servicing an ATM at the QuikTrip in the 6800 block of Mt. Zion Boulevard just before 2 p.m. Monday when a man “approached her from behind and snatched a bag of money with more than $40,000 inside,” Clayton County police spokeswoman JaQuitta Williams said.

Williams described the suspect as black, about 5 feet, 8 to 5 feet, 10 inches tall, and with a slender build and dreadlocks. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and black shoes, and got away in a silver Chevrolet Equinox.

No one was hurt, and there were no weapons involved, according to Williams.

The incident was the second armored car robbery in the county this month.
