Cobb County grand jury indicts man in fatal hit-and-run crash
A Cobb County grand jury has indicted a man accused in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 20-year-old in December.
In addition to hit-and-run, Tanner Lee Bertram, of Acworth, was indicted Thursday on charges of homicide by vehicle, marijuana possession and improper headlights, according to the indictment obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Bertram, then 22, was arrested Dec. 30, three days after allegedly striking and killing Matthew Tyner, of Marietta, according to police.
Around 3:10 a.m. Dec. 27, Tyner was walking westbound on North Marietta Parkway in the far right lane when he was hit from behind by a Kia Spectra that left the scene, Marietta police previously said. Tyner was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police released information about the car believed to be involved, and three days later, Bertram surrendered. He was booked into the Cobb County jail and later released after posting bond.
