Chick-fil-A will offer at-home meal kits featuring its breaded chicken soon

By now, families across the country have been beleaguered by the question, “What’s for dinner?” Fans of chicken champ Chick-fil-A will soon have a refreshing answer to that question.

In an effort to add variety to the meal selection of families still sheltering in place, the Hapeville, Georgia-based franchise announced Thursday it would begin selling Chicken Parmesan Meal Kits at participating locations, beginning May 4.

The meals include two seasoned, breaded and pressure-cooked Original Chick-fil-A Chicken filets, marinara sauce, Italian-style cheeses, and creamy garlic and lemon pasta, according to a blog post on the restaurant's Chicken Wire blog. The meals can be customized with the restaurant's Grilled or Spicy filets. The kits, which feed two adults, will be on sale for $14.99.

“Our guests are currently experiencing unique challenges, which is why we’re proud to offer the Chicken Parmesan Meal Kit as an easy way for them to enjoy a delicious meal from the safety and comfort of home,” said Ben Bolling, menu and packaging program lead at Chick-fil-A. “Our easy-to-prepare, dinnertime solution provides Chick-fil-A customers with all the ingredients needed for a homecooked meal.”

Customers have the option to visit a Chick-fil-A drive-thru for the meals or have a Chicken Parmesan Meal Kit delivered to their homes.

The make-it-yourself kit features premeasured and ready-to-heat ingredients and an easy, step-by-step recipe that allows Chick-fil-A guests to have a delicious, homemade meal on the table in less than 30 minutes.

The kits are available for delivery via the Chick-fil-A App, DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub.

The fast-food chain, which often tops the national lists of America’s favorite chains, was one of the first to change its service to drive-thru or takeout only when the COVID-19 pandemic descended on the U.S. earlier this year. The restaurant franchise has continued to see support from customers, even as some reports have surfaced of Chick-fil-A workers testing positive for the virus.

According to the Chicken Wire post, the at-home meal kits are a welcomed alternative, with more than 15,000 customers expressing interest for them online.

“After receiving such a positive response about our Chicken Parmesan Meal Kit during our 2018 test, we’re thrilled to offer it with great enhancements at participating restaurants nationwide during a time when our guests need convenient mealtime options,” said Stuart Tracy, senior culinary lead at Chick-fil-A.
