The Cherokee County Board of Education has named two officials to top posts.

The Board approved Kenneth Owen as assistant superintendent of financial management, and Susan McCarthy as assistant superintendent of educational programs, student support and professional development.

Owen replaces Candler Howell, who is retiring this month, and McCarthy takes the place of Letitia Cline, who will depart in December.

Owen’s previous experience includes a stint as CCSD director of grants management. McCarthy most recently served as director of school improvement.
