Brookhaven police seized more than 60 pounds of marijuana and a loaded gun during a Tuesday traffic stop, authorities said.

An officer who stopped a Mercedes Benz about 8 p.m. for allegedly violating the state’s window tinting laws noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, Brookhaven police spokeswoman Megan Matteucci said.

After searching the driver and the car, the officer found several large bags containing what was later determined to be more than 60 pounds of weed, police said.

The officer also confiscated more than $2,200 in cash and a loaded handgun, Matteucci said.

The driver, 43-year-old Thomas Estaba, was arrested and charged with multiple felony drug charges and a gun possession charge, police said.

He is being held at the DeKalb County jail in lieu of $500 bond, according to jail records.
