An officer who was killed Sunday morning in an officer-involved shooting at the Florence Regional Airport has been identified by Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken, according to a WBTW reporter.

The officer was identified as Jackson Ryan Winkeler, 26. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, according to WBTW reporter Briana Fernandez.

The male suspect was apprehended by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division after the suspect fled the scene, according to WBTW, a CBS affiliate.

The suspect reportedly shot and killed Winkeler, an airport public safety officer, during a traffic stop at the airport, according to WBTW.

Von Lutcken confirmed the death earlier Sunday, according to WPDE, an ABC affiliate.

Dozens of officers and deputies were on the scene near the airport, according to Tommy Crosby of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Every entrance and exit to the airport was blocked, according to WPDE.
