Victor Hill surrenders clothes and guns, not self

Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill has yet to speak up after this weekend's shooting of a 43-year-old real estate agent at a model home. Under Georgia law, a warrant has to be issued by a Superior Court judge if an officer is charged with a crime in the line of duty. So far, Sheriff Hill has surrendered his clothing and gun from the day of the incident, but has not been arrested. If the victim, currently being treated at Gwinnett Medical Center, dies, Hill could be charged with manslaughter. [Read More]

New taxes coming to aid roads and infrastructure

Gov. Nathan Deal has signed a bill into law requiring the state to raise over $1 billion in new revenue annually in order to fix aging roads and bridges across Georgia. Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Today is Cinco de Mayo, the holiday Americans use as an excuse to drink margaritas and eat Mexican food (as if we need a reason to do that!). The holiday, which does not celebrate Mexican Independence Day as many believe, is a celebration of Mexico's unlikely victory over French forces in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. This year's holiday is extra exciting as it coincides with the unofficial weekly holiday "Taco Tuesday". [Guide to the best Mexican fare in Atlanta]
