A man was shot and killed Thursday afternoon in a neighborhood near Lithonia, police said.

LeRobbian Lowe, 19, was gunned down across the street from his mother's home in the Covington Station townhome subdivision, relatives said.

Police were called around 12:45 p.m. for the report of gunfire in the 5300 block of Strathmoor Manor Circle, authorities said.

Officers arrived to find Lowe dead in the street, DeKalb County police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said.

"It's just sad because he was so young," Lowe's cousin Jaquis Lowe told reporters.

The motive is unknown and investigators haven't identified a suspect, Parish said.

Police continue investigating.
