The calendar may say it's Spring, but it will feel more like Winter by midweek.

That's because when the rain moves out Tuesday, it will be followed by a cold front, according to Channel 2 Meteorologist Brad Nitz.

"Behind the front we'll see clearing, cooler and windy conditions," Nitz said Monday afternoon.

Showers and possible storms are expected to continue into Tuesday morning, with rainfall totals hitting 2 inches in some areas, Nitz said. Most of metro Atlanta will get at least an inch of rain, he said.

As skies clear Tuesday afternoon, expect wind gusts to increase to 35 mph with highs in the middle to upper 50s, Nitz said.

But by Wednesday morning, you'll probably want your coat. Temperatures will drop to the low 30s, Nitz said.

"In Atlanta the low will be near 35 degrees, the record is 32," Nitz said. "But temperatures will be near freezing in the suburbs."

Temperatures will gradually climb in time for the weekend. Friday afternoon's high temperature should reach the upper 60s.
