Richard Jackson Thomason had already been kicked out of his mother’s home once. That was after his daughter noticed he was stealing from her grandmother.
But that didn’t stop him from breaking into the Rome home and stealing again after already using his 81-year-old mother’s bank accounts to fuel his drug habit, the Rome News-Tribune reported.
The crimes led the 57-year-old to a 10-year prison sentence with 10 years on probation. A jury found him guilty of felony burglary, exploitation of an elderly person and misdemeanor theft by taking Tuesday, the newspaper reported.
Thomason was legally evicted Aug. 22 after his daughter found out. He broke into the home Sept. 12 to steal jewelry, tools and lawn equipment.
He had a previous conviction for illegally using his mother’s credit card, the News-Tribune reported.
