A man was killed Saturday after a head-on collision in Gwinnett County, according to police.

Kip Madison, 37, of Lithonia, died at the scene as a result of his injuries, Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said Monday in a news release.

Madison was driving south on Oak Road in a black Toyota Camry when the car went around a curve just north of Tony Drive, according to Pihera. For reasons that aren’t clear, the Camry veered into the northbound lane and smashed into a white Lexus RX350, she said.

Officers were called to the scene about 8:30 p.m. The driver of the Lexus was taken to a hospital. That person’s condition was not released.

Police are investigating if speed and alcohol were factors in the crash, Pihera said.
