A pedestrian died in Gwinnett County on Sunday morning after a car hit him while he was crossing the road.

Anthony Davis, 21, of Snellville, was killed while crossing Stone Mountain Highway west of the intersection with Killian Hill Road, according to an incident report.

Davis was trying to cross about 9:45 a.m., the incident report said. He was not in a crosswalk at the time.

Octavia Gales, 19, of Snellville, was driving a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta westbound on Stone Mountain Highway, the incident report said. As Davis entered the roadway, Gales’ car struck him. Davis was taken to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Gales was not injured in the collision. The Jetta was impounded by a statewide wrecker service, the incident report said. Police said speed does not appear to be a factor.

An investigation is ongoing.
