A man has life-threatening injuries after his pickup truck was involved in a crash with a tractor-trailer on I-285 in Cobb County, authorities said.

The incident happened just after 12:20 p.m. Thursday on the inner loop just south of Paces Ferry Road, Cobb police said in a news release.

A 2006 Chevrolet Colorado driven by Marko Stulic, 49, of Marietta, was traveling north, the release said. He tried to change two lanes to the right, but his vehicle hit the rear of a 2015 Kenworth tractor-trailer that was pulling a flatbed trailer in the third left lane, the release said. That caused the pickup truck to spin to a stop, blocking the third and fourth lanes of travel.

The crash blocked the interstate for more than an hour before all lanes reopened about 2:30 p.m., according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

The tractor-trailer’s 22-year-old driver was not seriously hurt, but Stulic was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in critical condition, the release said.

No other details have been released. The crash remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cobb police at 770-499-3987.
