A passenger was killed Sunday morning when a vehicle turning into a Gwinnett County Kroger was T-boned, police said.
The vehicle was turning from the westbound lanes of Atlanta Highway into the Kroger at the intersection with Rosebud Road and collided with another vehicle headed east around 7 a.m., according to Gwinnett police. The passenger, identified as 38-year-old Rochelle Vinson of Monroe, was dead at the scene.
Vinson was riding in the vehicle with the driver who is considered to be at fault, a police spokesman said. That driver was in critical condition at an area hospital Sunday night.
“Speed and alcohol are being investigated as possible contributing factors in the accident,” the spokesman said.
The other driver was also taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
While investigators were on scene, the eastbound lanes of Atlanta Highway were closed for about three hours, according to police. The collision remains under investigation.
