A 57-year-old woman from Forsyth County died Saturday afternoon after a car collision in Alabama.

Vicki Dukes of Cumming was a passenger in a car driven by her husband on U.S. 431 at Highway 36 when it collided with a truck around 12:15 p.m., said Capt. Tracy Nelson of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the crash. The condition and identity of the other driver has not been released.

According to public Facebook posts, Dukes was on her way to the Lighthouse Family Retreat with her husband Danny, a pilot for Delta, when their Honda Civic collided with a Dodge Ram pulling a boat.

Friends of the family shared on Facebook that Dukes was flown to Midtown Medical Center in Columbus while her husband, reportedly injured with a broken arm and leg, initially went to a local hospital in Alabama.

A public Facebook group devoted to sharing updates on the family’s condition said that Vicki Dukes went into surgery Saturday, reportedly suffering from a head injury among others, before later dying from her injuries. Her husband appears to be in stable condition.

A service will be held for Vicki Dukes at North Point Community Church at 7 p.m. Friday in the East Auditorium. Dukes was a committed member of the church and had worked there, according to her Facebook page.
