Driver involved in I-675 wreck in critical condition

A man is in critical condition after he was involved in a wreck that closed a busy interstate for nearly four hours, authorities said.
One car was involved in the wreck, which happened on I-675 near Ellenwood Road. All southbound lanes were shut down while authorities worked to investigate and clear the wreck. Lanes reopened about 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

The man driving the car was “driving an excessive speed of at least 100 miles per hour,” according to Clayton police spokeswoman Marcena Davis. She said he lost control of the car and crashed near the wood line.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he is expected to survive, Davis said.
