For more than eight hours Thursday morning, a deadly hit-and-run investigation involving a pedestrian shut down I-75 South in Clayton County.

According to police, a vehicle hit and killed the man just past the I-285 interchange. The victim’s name and a description of the vehicle have not been released.

The WSB 24-hour Traffic Center first reported closures on I-75 about 2 a.m.  During the peak of the Thursday morning rush, only one left lane was open.

At 10:20 a.m., lanes reopened after investigators with the GBI Medical Examiner cleared the scene.

Police are not releasing any further information as the investigation is ongoing, a Clayton police spokeswoman told AJC.com.
