BREAKING: 2.8 magnitude earthquake hits South Arkansas on Monday

A magnitude 2.8 earthquake was felt by residents near El Dorado, Arkansas, on Monday morning, according to reports.

The U.S. Geological Survey charted the 2.8 magnitude quake, which is considered to be a very light one, about 9:49 a.m., news station Fox 16 reported.

The epicenter was about 8 miles east-southeast of El Dorado, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

USGS says the quake shook a distance of about 7.5 miles wide.
