Police have shut down Satellite Boulevard between McGinnis Ferry Road and Wildwood Road as they search for a suspect in a shooting.

Gwinnett County police are searching for a man suspected of opening fire in a Suwanee business Friday afternoon, killing one employee.

The victim was found at Direct Technologies, Inc., a specialized, high-output printing business located in the 600 block of Satellite Boulevard, Channel 2 Action News reported. Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Collin Flynn said the victim was taken to the hospital but died as a result of their injuries. Police are withholding details of the victim’s identity until next of kin are notified.

Police, who received calls about the incident around 2:30 p.m., said the employee was targeted. The building was occupied by multiple employees when the gunman opened fire, Flynn said.

Bryant Armstrong, an employee of Direct Technologies, told Channel 2 that he and his coworkers suspect the gunman entered the business through a warehouse bay door, but they were not certain. He said he heard several gunshots but did not see the shooting victim. He fled to the breakroom with other coworkers before leaving the building.

“You don’t expect on a Friday at 2 p.m. to hear gunshots ring out at a super-small office park,” Bryant said.

Flynn said another employee was injured while running away from the scene, but they were not shot. No other employees were injured.

The suspect was wearing a long, flowing white or light-pink garment that concealed his race, as well as a white balaclava-style face covering that showed only his eyes, Flynn said. He added that the gunman left the scene on foot, so it’s possible he is still in the area.

Flynn said police do not have a motive at this time. If anyone sees the suspect, they are asked to call 911 immediately.

Satellite Boulevard has been reopened after police stopped traffic for hours between McGinnis Ferry Road and Wildwood Road.
