A man is on the run and a woman has been arrested following an attempted traffic stop in Brookhaven on Tuesday that led to a chase, police said.

Investigators said Randy Grier, 41, led officers on a chase, crashed his car and then escaped on foot, according to a news release from Brookhaven police.

A woman who was in the car with Grier was arrested. Ismaeli Perez, 45, of Jonesboro, is charged with giving police a false name and birth date. She was taken to the DeKalb County Jail.

Investigators attempted to track Grier using a drone and a police K-9 for more than an hour, but determined that he had escaped. He was not seen with a weapon, according to police. He was wearing green shorts and a gray shirt.

Warrants for Grier have been obtained on a variety of charges, including a felony count of fleeing from police. The traffic stop was initiated, police said, because his car had a stolen license plate.

Police asked residents to stay indoors and drivers to stay off the roads while they conducted a search for the man in the area of LaVista Park. They called off the active search about 9:45 a.m.
