All city of Atlanta pools are closed until further notice, the parks and recreation department announced Sunday afternoon.

The pools will be closed for an operational assessment conducted by the Department of Parks and Recreation, the City of Atlanta said in a statement.

“Out of an abundance of caution for our residents and staff, it remains necessary to keep the pools closed until further notice,” the statement said.

The closures affect the outdoor pools managed by the city, the statement said. The indoor natatoriums and splashpads are unaffected.

The pools were closed one day after a 17-year-old boy was shot and killed after an argument at Anderson Pool, according to Atlanta police. The city did not mention the shooting in announcing the closures.

Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms had announced in May that, for the first time ever, admission fees would be waived — making pools accessible to all patrons at no cost. All 12 city swimming pools reopened Saturday, May 29 — in time for Memorial Day.

The city of Atlanta pools are: Adams Park, 1581 Lagoon Lane SW; Anderson Park, 100 Anderson Ave.; Candler Park, 1500 McClendon Ave.; Grant Park, 625 Park Ave.; John A. White Park, 1101 Cascade Circle SW; Maddox Park, 1142 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway NW; Pittman Park, 950 Garibaldi St. SW; Powell at Mozley Park, 1690 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive NW; Rev. James Orange Park, 1305 Oakland Lane SW; Rosa L. Burney Park, 477 Windsor St.; South Bend Park, 2000 Lakewood Ave. SE; Thomasville Park, 1750 Thomasville Drive SE.
