At least 10 people have been killed and 20 injured after a van transporting about 30 migrants overturned Wednesday in Brooks County, Texas, according to multiple reports.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said 10 people were confirmed dead and 20 injured, according to KENS5 reporter Anastasiya Bolton.

The van flipped after striking a curb south of Encino, according to reporter Valerie Gonzalez.

The driver was among the deceased, according to Gonzalez.

Brooks County Sheriff Benny Martinez told KENS5 the van was carrying migrants.

The crash happened about 4 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. 281 in Encino, The Associated Press reported.

The van is designed to hold 15 passengers and it tipped over when the driver lost control on a curve, Martinez told the AP.
