The rain is set to continue Sunday morning, with flood watches in some areas of metro Atlanta.

The forecast from Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz shows some showers until noon, followed by clearer weather in the afternoon and evening. Light rain is expected across most of north Georgia.

A flood watch is in place for a number of counties, including Clayton, DeKalb, Fulton and Gwinnett. The potential for flooding includes the cities of Atlanta, Lawrenceville, East Point and Decatur.

The wet weather has already brought about 1 to 3 inches of rainfall, and another 1/2 to 1 inch is possible through mid-morning. That, combined with wet soil and stream flows, will likely cause flooding of some creeks and rivers. The areas most likely to flood are the Oconee River near Penfield and along Big Creek from Cumming to Alpharetta.

Those who live near areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action if there are floods.

Looking ahead, Monday will bring cloudy and cool weather with a high of 51 and a low of 39 degrees. Tuesday will be mostly sunny and cool with another high of 51 and a low of 31 degrees for the Chick-fil-A Bowl Parade and game.
