Saweetie recently shut down rumors that a video showing her and her ex-boyfriend Quavo in a fight is what led to the demise of their relationship.

Earlier this month, the chart-topping rappers, once considered one of the hottest couples of hip-hop, ended their two-year relationship, which Saweetie confirmed in a series of tweets.

Video surveillance from an unknown elevator, of what appears to be the Atlanta-based rapper and Saweetie, began circulating on social media earlier this week. In the footage, Quavo, who is one-third of rap group Migos, and the “Best Friend” rapper are seen tussling with baggage in their hands. At one point, the “Stir Fry” lyricist is seen forcibly pushing his then-girlfriend into the elevator and onto the floor. Media personality DJ Akademiks posted the video Tuesday afternoon, which has already been viewed more than 1.8 million times.

Saweetie, whose real name is Diamonté Harper, told TMZ on Thursday that the footage was from a fight she and her ex had a year ago.

“This unfortunate incident happened a year ago,” she said in a statement to TMZ. “While we have reconciled since then and moved past this particular disagreement, there were simply too many other hurdles to overcome in our relationship and we have both since moved on.”

Just weeks ago, many of their fans on social media began speculating that the duo had split after they seemed to have unfollowed each other on Instagram.

In her social media posts March 19, Saweetie alluded to cheating, namely referring to “intimacy” with other women, as the reason she split with her longtime love. In December, Quavo, 29, made headlines for unveiling a lavish Christmas gift, a white Bentley, for Saweetie.

“I’m single. I’ve endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that degrades my character,” the 27-year-old wrote in a Twitter post to her more than 1.4 million followers. “Presents don’t band aid scars and the love isn’t real when the intimacy is given to other women.”

Quavo, whose real name is Quavious Marshall, did not respond to the breakup rumors when comments were sought from People magazine.

The “Stir Fry” lyricist as recently as last month posted about his romance with Saweetie. He posted an Instagram photo of the pair together — which is the last snapshot he shared on social media with Saweetie — on Feb. 15. In the picture, the then-couple appeared to be on a romantic evening out. He captioned his post, “Dedicated The Night To You! ❤️.”

Saweetie posted an Instagram photo from the same date night on Feb. 15, captioning the shot “Fight Night,” (after one of the Migo’s hit songs).

The breakup has sparked lots of chatter on Twitter, especially because there are accusations of infidelity.
