With a high in the 70s, it’ll feel more like April in metro Atlanta on Monday.
The average high for this time of year is 61 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. We’ll make it well above that this afternoon. Temperatures will top out around 73 degrees under mostly sunny skies.
“It’ll feel like spring out there,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said. “Those are temperatures that are more typical of the first week or so of April.”
High temps will remain in the 70s through the first half of the week, but more clouds will be around on Tuesday and Wednesday. That will set the stage for a few showers on Tuesday with more widespread rain arriving on Wednesday into Thursday ahead of a cold front that will bring high temperatures back down into the 50s for the second half of the week.
“There is a chance of thunderstorms, but any severe weather risk should stay mainly to our north and west,” Monahan said.
The rain will provide some relief from the pollen, which will be more prevalent with higher temperatures this week.
“Our spring pollen season has begun, and let me give you that warning now,” Monahan said. “As those temperatures really warm up this week, higher counts are expected — really going to see those pollen count numbers climb.”
With that being said, make sure you have the antihistamines on hand if you suffer from seasonal allergies.
