Clayton County will host a grand opening next month for a new space for live theatrical performances.

The Black Box Theater at Flint River Community Center is part of the recently constructed $13 million recreation facility at 153 Flint River Road in Riverdale.

Also referred to as the Intergenerational Center, Flint River opened in April for a variety of uses, including gaming, a multi-purpose gym for working out, an outdoor splash pod for children and theater.

“The opening of our arts and cultural facility is finally here,” Clayton County Commissioner Felicia Franklin said in a press release. “I am certain that it will be well worth the wait. I look forward to the many performances and cultural exchanges in our innovative Black Box Theater.”

The grand opening is set for 6 p.m. Nov. 13 and will include entertainment, prizes and refreshments.
