A 71-year-old man faces charges after another man was shot and seriously injured in Fayetteville on Monday, authorities said.

About 11:20 a.m., officers responded to a home off Meadowbrook Court where multiple gunshots had been fired, Fayetteville police said. The victim had gunshot wounds to his upper left arm and lower back area.

He was taken to an Atlanta hospital with serious injuries, but he is stable, police said.

Investigators determined that Lavon Hooks, who lived with the victim at the Meadowbrook Court house, got into an argument with the man before the shooting. He was arrested and faces counts of aggravated assault, reckless conduct and third-degree child cruelty.

No other information on the investigation has been released.
