ATL Overnight: Former Georgia Tech star's murder trial begins

- Opening statements are expected Wednesday in the murder trial of former Georgia Tech hoops star Javaris Crittenton. The former first-round pick in the NBA draft is accused of shooting 23-year-old Julian Jones in August 2011 from his vehicle while she was walking down an Atlanta street.
- If you like chilly, rainy days Wednesday is going to make you smile. It will get drier, but the temperature for the next few days will be about 15 degrees below normal.
- A Union City mother was killed in a domestic incident early Wednesday morning. Police say 42-year-old Rhonda Williams was shot to death in the 4700 block of Main Street. It is not known if the two children in the home witnessed the shooting.
- Georgia Democrats, after two humbling defeats in statewide elections in 2014, are having trouble finding a viable candidate to oppose U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson in 2016.
- A Dublin, Ga., teacher who called President Obama "anti-Christian" has been removed from the classroom. Nancy Perry, a veteran teacher at Dublin Middle School, will retire at the end of the year.
- An East Point woman who took to Facebook to call for "death to all white cops nationwide" is in jail. Police say Ebony Dickens wrote she "might kill at least 15 tomorrow, I'm plotting now." East Point police arrested Dickens, who used the Facebook name Tiffany Milan, shortly after the posts were made public. The FBI is also investigating the incident.
- The Falcons will borrow $850 million to build a new stadium in downtown Atlanta. The stadium — under construction next to the Georgia Dome — has a construction budget of $1.4 billion, not including interest costs. The city of Atlanta and the NFL will contribute $200 million each.
- The Braves will own half of a 16-floor, 260-room hotel to be built adjacent to their new stadium in Cobb County. The cost of the hotel to be managed by Omni Hotels & Resorts was not disclosed.
- The streets of Baltimore were mostly quiet overnight, but National Guard troops are still on the streets to prevent rioting. The Baltimore Orioles will play their first game since rioting began, but won't allow fans in the stadium. It will be the first time in Major League history that a baseball game has been played with no fans in the seats.
- The Atlanta Hawks return to Atlanta to play a pivotal Game 5 against the Brooklyn Nets. The first round playoff series is tied 2-2, but sports columnist Jeff Schultz says the Hawks are struggling.
- The Atlanta Braves lost 13-12 to the visiting Washington Nationals. The Braves blew an 8-run lead and allowed former Brave Dan Uggla, who was released but being paid $13 million by the Braves this year, to hit a game-winning 3-run homer in the ninth. "I can't lie, that felt good," said the second baseman. Ouch!
