Four people, including a teenager and a metro Atlanta man, are charged with murder in connection with a shooting Friday night at a Griffin apartment complex.

Xavier Lamar Carter, 21, of Barnesville, Robert Freeman III, 26, of Griffin, Damarion Sinkfield, 17, of Griffin, and Ryan Matthew Willis, 20, of Jonesboro, also face armed robbery and aggravated assault charges in the case, Griffin police said in a statement.

The charges stem from the death of 26-year-old Jeffery Ryan Deluca, according to police.

Deluca was found in the doorway of a unit at the Walden Pointe Apartments off Carver Road about 11:15 p.m., authorities said. He had been shot in the head. He was taken to a hospital, where he died, according to officials.

Investigators determined the fatal shooting was the result of a “failed drug transaction,” Griffin police said.

All four suspects were booked into the Spalding County Jail, where they remain held without bond, online records show.

The investigation is ongoing.
