Kennesaw State falls to South Florida, 108-89
On a day when the memory and legacy of the former coach at both schools was honored at halftime, South Florida was able to come away with a 108-89 victory over host Kennesaw State on Sunday afternoon, handing the Owls their first loss of the season.
At halftime, the two schools recognized and honored the memory of Amir Abdur-Rahim, who passed away at just 43 years of age 13 months ago. Abdur-Rahim was the head coach at both South Florida and Kennesaw State.
Joseph Pinion scored 24 points to lead the Bulls (3-1). Josh Omojafo added 20 points and six rebounds, while Izaiyah Nelson finished with 18 points.
The Owls (3-1) were led in scoring by Simeon Cottle, who finished with 25 points. Braedan Lue added 12 points, two steals and four blocks for Kennesaw State. Trey Simpson and RJ Johnson also had 11 points.
The score was 56-41 at halftime, with Pinion racking up 20 points. Omojafo scored 18 points in the second half to help lead the way.
