For more than two hours, a crash has closed all lanes of I-285 East in DeKalb County at the top of Friday morning’s commute.

It was first reported around 6:30 a.m. just past the Moreland Avenue exit, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation. The scene is near the junction with I-675.

Initially, only three lanes were affected, but all lanes were closed by 7 a.m. and remained closed as of 9 a.m.

Authorities have not released details about the incident, so the extent of any injuries is not known, and it’s not clear what caused the collision.

The closure is causing major backups on the Perimeter. Commuters should use the Downtown Connector northbound to I-20 East to avoid the traffic jam, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
