The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of two men on its Most Wanted list this week.
Demarlo Shondell Seroyer, 44, was arrested Monday on charges of strangulation and criminal trespass with damage to property, according to a bench warrant obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Although Seroyer’s warrant does not contain details about the circumstances leading to his charges, online court records show that he was taken to small claims court by the same person named as the victim in his bond order. Seroyer was originally arrested by Atlanta police on May 15, 2020. He was granted bond of $101,000 the following day, with the condition that he stayed away from the victim, but he was not released for months.
About two months later, while Seroyer remained in jail, the victim filed a magistrate claim for damage to property worth a little more than $3,000.
In his criminal case, Seroyer was given pretrial release Jan. 5. A bench warrant was issued Feb. 23 after he failed to report to his pretrial services.
Months later, the civil case against Seroyer was dismissed when neither he nor the plaintiff appeared for their hearing July 21. Seroyer has been booked back into the Fulton County Jail.
The second arrest involved 20-year-old Christopher Antwan Colzie, who was first arrested on multiple charges as a minor Feb. 10, 2018. Colzie, along with several friends, is accused of carjacking a Mercedes-Benz sedan in northwest Atlanta, according to police reports obtained by the AJC.
As Colzie drove his friends in the car, he was spotted by Atlanta police officers who tried to make a traffic stop, the incident report said. Colzie drove away and led police on a chase over surface streets. During the chase, the report says Colzie held a handgun out of the window and fired it into the air.
As the chase continued, the Mercedes hit a curb and was seriously damaged, after which it could only go about 15 mph, the report said. Still, the chase continued and another suspect in the Mercedes fired a handgun at the pursuing patrol cars, according to the report. The Mercedes came to a stop on Cato Street, where all five suspects jumped out and fled.
Colzie was later found at his mother’s house and taken into custody, the report said. He was charged with armed robbery, carjacking, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, assaulting a peace officer and three counts of obstruction.
Court records show that Colzie was granted bond in June 2018 and his case was continued until he violated the terms of his pretrial release in June 2020. The case was reinstated following his arrest Tuesday.
