After being closed for more than a year, two DeKalb County cities fully reopened their city halls to the public.

Avondale Estates and Doraville reopened their government buildings Monday morning for the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. The only people allowed in the buildings before Monday were limited city staff and visitors, who all had to make appointments.

“I am now excited to welcome our community back into the building while also continuing the digital transformation which has made civic engagement easier than ever,” Doraville Mayor Joseph Geierman said in a news release.

Both cities are requiring visitors to wear masks and practice social distancing. Like all DeKalb cities, Avondale Estates and Doraville continue to hold their City Council meetings virtually, but Doraville announced a return to in-person meetings in June. The Doraville City Hall is at 3725 Park Avenue.

Avondale Estates City Hall is located at 21 North Avondale Plaza, but its municipal court will temporarily remain at 30 Covington Road.
