Two megastars of hip-hop — who also happen to call metro Atlanta home — are prepping to battle record for record via the wildly popular Instagram “Verzuz” battle.

College Park native 2 Chainz and Rick Ross, who lives south of Atlanta in Fayetteville, will participate in the upcoming battle Aug. 6. The fierce head-to-head competition likely will pit songs including 2 Chainz’s “It’s a Vibe” and “Feds Watching” with Ross’ robust catalog, which includes songs such as “Aston Martin Music” and “Hustlin'.”

The popular Instagram Live event allows folks to tune in while musical artists play (and sometimes sing or rap along) their most popular hits. Two artists with similar musical sounds trade-off tracks during the Verzuz battle to determine who had the most palatable records. Past popular battles include Lil’ Jon versus T-Pain, Erykah Badu versus Jill Scott and Babyface versus Teddy Riley.

Earlier this summer, 2 Chainz had surmised which rapper he might possibly compete against if selected to engage in the competition. He guessed rappers including Meek Mill and Fabulous, but ultimately he was pegged to compete against Florida native Ross.
