For its 149th birthday, Smyrna citizens will celebrate from 5-10 p.m. Oct. 9 with cupcakes, concerts and fireworks on the Village Green, 200 Village Green Circle, downtown Smyrna.

The cupcakes will be donated by McEntyre’s, a long-time bakery in Smyrna that has been open since the late 1940s.

For the first time this year, two national acts will perform - Gin Blossoms and Sister Hazel.

Gin Blossoms and Sister Hazel helped to define the late grunge era through the 90s and beyond, according to a city statement.

Table reservations are available for purchase by noon Oct. 1 at bit.ly/39CStkM.

Each 48-inch table will come with six chairs at $50 for residents and $60 for nonresidents.

Food vendors also will be present.

Sister Hazel is an American alternative rock band from Gainesville, Florida, who formed in 1993, released eight studio albums and had their music featured in several movies and soundtracks such as “Major League: Back to the Minors” and “The Wedding Planner.”

Gin Blossoms has sold more than 10 million records and remains one of the most in-demand 90s live artists.
