Cobb County and Smyrna will assist with paying for the installment of a Nickajack Silent Railroad Crossing.

The nearest address is 561 Summertree Court but on Nickajack Road.

Estimated costs are $145,591 by Smyrna and $436,774 for Cobb.

Also, Norfolk Southern is requiring an annual maintenance fee for the crossing.

Smyrna will pay nearly $1,464 which is 25 percent of the total annual maintenance of $5,855 estimate.

However, that amount by Norfolk Southern will increase by around 4 percent each year to both Cobb and Smyrna.

Funds will be allocated from the 2016 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST).
